Roman Catholic Church of Christ the King, Thornbury

The Roman Catholic Parish of Christ the King with its Church in Castle Street, Thornbury covers a large area of the Severn Vale. It follows the bank of the Severn from Aust to Purton and extends eastwards as far as Cromhall. The Parish is served by a religious order, the Salvatorians, and the current parish priest is Father Alex McAllister who is a native of Thornbury.

Sunday Masses are at 8.30, 11.00 and 6.30 in Thornbury and at 10.00 in the chapel of Berkeley Castle. Each year the parishioners of Christ the King celebrate a mass at St John's Chapelry in Aust on the Feast of St Augustine of Canterbury.

Do visit the Church in Castle Street. It is open daily for quiet prayer and meditation and there is a new prayer garden with a labyrinth open to all.
