Severn Vale Arts Trail, many local venues.

The Strongman’, an hour-long family event – a story of intrigue and jealousy, comedy and lively music, inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s ‘The Circus’, put on by The Bash Street Company, courtesy of S.Glos Rural Arts. Ticket available on the door - £7.50 (£6.50 concessions, £5 children, £20 for a family ticket). Refreshments available. Parish Hall Tockington, 5pm.

Olveston and Tockington WI: Come and hear our speaker tell of packing up her belongings in a rucksack at the age of 65, renting out her house and going off travelling – for 4 years and visiting 14 countries! Members and visitors are all welcome to come and hear about her travels and the people she met. We’re having a Plant Stall too – buy plants for your garden or bring along cuttings of your own. Parish Hall, Tockington, 7.30pm.

‘Historic Thornbury’ Evening Walk, led by volunteers from Thornbury & District Museum. The walk will be around the town centre, to discover some fascinating insights into the history of the ancient town and borough. About one and a half hours. No children under 10; older children must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs, except guide dogs. Booking essential, as places are limited. Tickets available from the Museum (in person or on 857774), open Tues-Fri 1-4pm and Sat 10-4. Suggested donation of £2 towards museum funds would be appreciated, payable on the night. Meet outside the museum in Chapel St. at 6.20pm.

Thornbury Picture House film: ‘Le Havre’, a charming, deadpan French film about the people of the harbour city standing up to officials doggedly pursuing a young African refugee with the aim of deporting him. £5 on the door for non-members. Cossham Hall, 7.30pm.

Aust Pilgrimage: Walk from Bristol Cathedral, starting at 6.50am or, for a more leisurely start, join en route, aiming for Aust by 3pm. Tea at the Church. The Boar’s Head will be open for us. Short service in the church at 4pm. Details from David (614601).

Annual Plant Sale ((in aid of Thornbury in Bloom) next to Thornbury Town Hall, 10am – 1pm. Donated plants may be brought along from 9.30am on the day or dropped off in advance at The Thornbury Garden Shop.

Garden Tea Party for ‘Lord Nelson’ and ‘Tenacious’ (the ships of the Jubilee Sailing Trust), the only two tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail together as equals. Join us for our Tea Party where the ever-popular Mystic Anna will be palm-reading. Stalls, including an Island Treasure Hunt, spin-a-wheel with compass points, books and a raffle. We look forward to your company. Entrance £3 and £1 children, including tea. Peacehaven, The Street, Olveston, next to the Methodist Hall, 2.30 – 5pm.

Open Morning at Stepping Stones, the small, friendly pre-school in Elberton. Come and see what we have to offer you and your pre-school child. Scarecrow Festival, Olveston. The theme of this year’s Scarecrow Festival is ‘Superheroes’, so why not create your favourite character? Erect your scarecrow in your garden on 15th June, so they can all be admired, then bring them to the vicarage by the school on the morning of the fete, 22nd June, to be judged!
